I've always loved and had a passion for art, color, design, and environments.
I can feel colors deep in my soul and live for a unique environment or event that awakens the senses and causes people to pause and be fully present with themselves and others.
I come from a family of closet artists, who worked their professional jobs by day but were artists by night, creating the most amazing masterpieces for their local community.
In many ways, I followed in their footsteps... well, the whole closet artist part! I have worked in the nonprofit world my entire adult life, yet after 2 years of hating business school, I secretly dropped out and found myself enrolled in art school, specializing in Interior Design.
While I loved every second of it I continued to work for nonprofits while doing art and design secretly on the side.
Until now...
I have been blessed with the unfortunate gift of feeling deeply, which hasn't always served me well, but I've learned it comes out beautifully through art, design, and color.
I have many paintings and design renderings stashed away in the corners of my home office, some good and some bad, but all with a story lol. After struggling through a very difficult season, I grabbed a canvas and a paintbrush, and channeled all my feelings and frustrations.... and out came my painting of Marilyn!
I stashed her away in the corner with a stack of other artwork but texted a picture of it to a dear friend and mentor.... who happened to love Marilyn Monroe.
This friend is brilliant at coaching and pushing you way beyond your comfort zone... and he didn't waste any time pushing me! Within a few months, a 10-foot by 10-foot print of my Marilyn painting was displayed on the wall of his screen printing shop. I then designed a rad, fun, vibrant space around the print giving it a Marilyn meets Elvis vibe! And... the cat was out of the bag!
Well, do we ever really know what is next?! Not really BUT since Marilyn graced the walls of Studio Print Shop in Concord, NC some really cool doors have opened up... and I'm starting to feel more and more comfortable walking through them!
I have the most amazing little art studio with Rowan Rock in Concord, where I create, paint, design, and hide away!
I've launched a fun apparel line inspired by art and many other things. I continue to design, event plan, and create environments that make memories!
For the first time ever, I've made my art available for purchase... and I can't wait to see what's next!
